I was listening to Little Joe while I was ironing my coverlet and just had to stop. Tom, this is the best version of a treasured song of mine. Every time I hear you sing this song it brings tears to my eyes and I have no wind to blame it on. Awesome! Thank you.

The whole album is a treasure. It will stand the test of time and always be a source of joy.

Loved your show in New Carlisle. Ron I know you didn't feel good.... and I hope you never feel that bad again.... but your rendition of "He's Coming to us Dead" was even more powerful than normal.

Let me be the first to ask publicly..... when will y'all be recording again? I need another DBFS CD!

Admin reply: Funny you ask. We've just been working on starting to think about the first steps to beginning to organize activities aimed at recording. RT

Thanks again for another great weekend of shows in Lexington! You guys are just wonderful & never fail to put on a great show. I just wonder how many times you can make me tear up with "Coming to us Dead" or "Green Pastures"...probably as many times as I hear it live. Amazing that you could have the enthusiasm and energy even in that heat. You guys are the best!!

Any planned dates in the four corners area in the next while?

Admin reply: Thanks for asking. The closest we'll be to Four Corners in the next few months is during our several performances at the festival we host in Westcliffe, CO; High Mountain Hay Fever. It's a great festival and worth the drive. RT

Heard you on Ewell Ferguson's show - #excellent. Get over to FaceBook - big bluegrass community there. By way down south - I'm at the same latitude as Roanoke VA - closer to Nashville TN than Springfield, let alone Chicago. Great work, guys!

Love your music. I have purchased most of your tapes and CD's. Drove to Galveston, TX to hear you some time back. Do you expect to be in the area in the future?

Admin reply: Howdy Buddy, Thanks for posting. I remember that Galveston gig; it was in a beautiful old theater and the crowd was really nice. I don't think that all of them were steeped-in-tradition bluegrass fans, but they sure came along for the ride. Thanks for reminding us of that. I called our agent and asked him to look into some TX venues; the whole state has been a place that we just haven't seemed to get to often, and I'm hoping to fix that. RT

Dear Dry Branch Fire Squad:
Thank you for Gettysburg!
IT WAS AN AMAZING WEEKEND - packed full of big names, great old and new bluegrass bands, and amazing musicians, still, none touch our hearts like the voices of the Dry Branch Fire Squad.
Our highlight, as always, was listening to you guys.
Each time better than the last, somehow.
Each set better, somehow, ending in Amen.
So good for a soul.
If we could just bottle that and pour it on the world, I'm sure we'd be cured.
I came to your table after the show but
I didn't get to tell you this:
I listen to Saalo's Song daily, this verse in heart.:
"In all God's creation, here under heaven, there's many I can't understand,
but one beautiful mystery, that I at least witnessed, was the love of a horse for man."
It is the first song on my car CD mix, not by accident.
When I sing it, I replace horse with cat, and man with woman, as needed, and silently.
My husband and I have a cat, named Joe.
Last year when I left to take care of my Dad, who had cancer,
(which is why my mom and I missed both Gettysburg shows last year, for the first time in ? years)
anyway, Joey, the cat got very sick, too.
Unlike Dad, we still have Joey.
Joey is actually on my lap now, cleaning a paw, as I type.
He has had some close calls and needs special care
but is worth every inconvenience to us because he clearly loves us, he follows us everywhere and sleeps on our heads.
I recall once before Ron sang Saalo's song he said something like,
"It's easy to understand why we humans love animals, but harder to understand why they would love us, ... they have much further to go..."
That said, the "sermon" Ron told on Sunday morning about Saalo, spoke to me on many levels.
Yes to health care - of course!
and yes to my Mom,
as she gets more and more confused and forgets more and more,
it gets harder for us both,
but she still loves the music so much, as do I.
She said this year would be the last, but we thought that in 2008 too...so, who knows.
I do know that I am grateful that we made it this year and it helped to be reminded to slow down, to go back for those who may be left behind, like Mom and little Joe.
THANK YOU so much Brian, Dan, Ron, and Tom for coming back to PA, for sharing your voices, songs and stories, to round us all up - in some way.
Sincere good wishes to you all,
Mary

Admin reply: Dear Mary,

Thanks so much for such a wonderful note. I just got back home from being out East, and got on my computer, and your letter made my day. I would like to either have your permission to share it with the boys or ask you to post it on our Guest Book where they can read it. Thanks for taking the time to write.

Love to you and your mom and Joey, RT

We attended the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival last weekend. It was our first time to a bluegrass festival; first time camping; first time to see the Dry Branch Fire Squad. At the end of the weekend we sat there looking at each other, scratching our heads and saying " WHY HAVEN'T WE DONE THIS BEFORE???".

We fell absolutely in love with the sound and the spirit of DBFS. Hope to see you many more times to come.

Admin reply: I'm so glad you had a good time. We did too. Thanks for being there, and thanks for posting. Next time, come up and say, "Howdy." RT
